The APEC Climate Network (APCN), precedent name of APEC Climate Center (APCC), literally means a communication channel to facilitate climate information service in various levels of decision making process for the benefit of APEC economies. APCC, in a sense, is a supporting facility to maintain and improve the collaboration link between scientists, operational forecasters and end users.
While climate prediction models achieve some success in the provision of regional details with satisfactory level of accuracy, an ensemble of operational or research centers´ model predictions

often yield better results. The multi-model ensemble approach requires standard procedures for data acquisition, quality control, synthesis, hindcasting, downscaling, evaluation, and interpretation that are built on collaboration among members. To improve such multi-institute infrastructure demands sustained support for an open environment not only for the exchange of observation and model data, but also for sharing knowledge and expertise in climate prediction.

The staff members of APCC will make every effort to provide a better opportunity to share knowledge and expertise among member economies through research projects, workshops, visiting and outreach programs in coordination and/or harmonization with other international activities and infrastructures.
